Looking for your first scroll saw? You've found it. The SS200 Shopmaster has everything the beginning scroll sawyer needs. The learning curve is short--you'll be cutting curves as soon as you set up the saw. The single-speed induction motor's controlled with a toggle switch and a removable lockout key to prevent the wrong hands from turning it on. The cast iron table measures 11-7/8 inches in diameter, and its 16-inch throat will let you cut even larger pieces. The table tilts to 45 degrees for bevel work. Though it doesn't offer the Quickset blade-changing system that Delta's SS250 has, blade changes are still fairly hassle-free; the standard chuck takes plain-end blades, and the tensioning cam lever operates with a fingertip. Like its big brothers, a built-in blower keeps your cutting line free of dust. With a maximum cutting thickness of 2 inches, there isn't much you can't do with this little saw. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste
