This entry-level scroll saw from Delta has only the bells and whistles that the home hobbyist really needs. It's a cut above their SS200 model, differing mostly in that it offers variable speed and the Quickset II blade-changing system, both handy features. The cast iron, round table--measuring 11-3/4 inches in diameter--will tilt to 45 degrees to let you cut bevels. When you're done, a positive stop brings the table back accurately perpendicular to your blade. If you're looking to do some interior scrolling, this saw is a great choice at a good price. Its Quickset blade-changing system allows you to drill your pilot hole, snap open the Quickset chuck, run the blade easily through your pilot hole, and seat it back in the Quickset chuck--a snap, and you're cutting. Blade tensioning is accomplished with a fingertip control, extending your blade life and preventing snapped blades. The nifty built-in blower keeps your cut line clear. The saw has onboard blade storage, as well as a pretty generous 16-inch throat capacity (the distance from the blade to the inside back of the saw). You can buy a stand for it or mount it on your workbench; either way, predrilled holes in the tool base will make that job a breeze. --Kris Jensen- Van Heste
