This is the classic cabinetmaker's bench clamp for gluing & assembly. Durable, oiled, hard maple jaws will not mar the work & are less likely to slip than steel jaws. It has a deep throat allowing you to apply a broad area of evenly distributed pressure or concentrating at one point of contact. Drawn carbon steel screws pivot to allow the jaws to grip nonparallel surfaces.
